ANA CAROLINA ESTEVES DIAS

Ana Carolina Esteves Dias is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED). She just recently received her Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Esteves Dias is a member of the Vulnerability to Viability (V2V) Global Partnership to Build Strong Small-Scale Fisheries Communities group and will be working alongside Professor Prateep Nayak. Her post-doctoral research is committed to providing a global perspective on the challenges placing the viability of small-scale fishing communities at risk, advancing acountry’s capacity to sustainably integrate people, fish and aquatic ecosystem in the science-policy interface.

Dr. Esteves Dias is also a co-founder of the Socio-ecological Co-creation Network for Latin America (RESACA), which is focused on developing co-creation methodologies to respond to socio-ecological challenges. She collaborates with research and outreach groups on conservation and management of the commons (CGCommons), University of Campinas, and is a past Institutional Fellow at the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research.  Welcome Dr. Esteves Dias!

JOELENA LEADER

Joelena Leader joined the School of Environment, Enterprise, and Development (SEED) as a Postdoctoral Fellow on September 1st, 2020. She will be working on projects in the areas of northern innovation and development. More specifically, Dr. Leader will be working with Professor Heather Hall on a project entitled Remote Controlled where she will examine the impacts of disruptive technologies in the mining and agri-food sectors in Canada.

Dr. Leader holds a M.A. in Sociology and Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Saskatchewan with an emphasis on technology and society. Her research is in the field of Science and Technology Studies (STS) with a focus on understanding users' experience, and technology design and use in a variety of contexts. Dr. Leader’s work blends user-centered design and community-based research approaches that crosses the disciplinary areas of sociology, health, policy, and human-computer interaction.
