The following two courses are available next semester, and have been updated:

  • ENBUS 308: Sustainability Standards/Auditing
  • ENBUS 409: Circular Economy

ENBUS 308 - Sustainability Management Standards and Auditing

Professor Steven B. Young will again be offering Sustainability Standards/Auditing. This course has changed to Wednesdays only, at 2:30-5:20 pm.

Standards and auditing approaches used for sustainability management are examined. Public standards, like those from the International Organization for Standardization, are contrasted with private standards, developed by specific industries for product transparency and accountability in supply-chains. Auditing practice, as defined by the ISO 19011 standard, is examined including principles, steps, reporting and important concepts. Examples of performance standards and management system standards are explored, covering industrial, social and environmental issues. Lectures may be supplemented by required field trip(s) and/or field work.

Note: Field trip fee of up to $50.00+HST.

Prequisites: ENBUS 202, 204 or instructor consent

ENBUS 409 - Circular Economy

Professor Komal Habib will be offering an exciting new course "Circular Economy" in the spring term. This course has been designed to equip students with the knowledge and expertise required to design and implement a circular economy initiative and monitor its progress through circularity indicators. The course will guide students in assessing the business value of circular economy cases. Students will also gain a deep understanding of individual circular economy cases with a systematic perspective to assess environmental gains and/or losses.

Note: Although the course is listed as ENBUS 409, it is open to all ENBUS students and will count as a 3rd/4th year theme. The only prerequisite is that students must have passed ENBUS 204. This course will run Mondays, at 11:30-2:20 pm.
