Updated Calculator Guidelines
The Faculty of Science has updated their calculator guidelines. The following three calculators have been approved for use in most courses:
- TI 30X II (Either the 'S' (solar) or 'B' (battery) version of this model are acceptable)
- Casio fx-300MS
- Sharp EL 531X (EL 531XG, 531XH, and 531XT are also acceptable, as they are the same model with different power supplies)
Students can purchase their own approved calculator at the WStore or the ChemStore located in ESC 109.
Alternatively, the Faculty of Math has also approved a variety of calculator models, indicated with their Pink Tie logo. For more information on these, check their Calculator Regulation web page. ‘Pink Tie’ calculators may also be permitted for use in some Science courses.
Note that programmable, graphing or calculators that can connect to Wi-Fi are strictly prohibited unless explicitly stated by your instructor.
Students that have questions about the calculator guidelines should reach out to their instructor or the Science Undergraduate Office.
Previous 'Blue Goggle' Calculators
'Blue Goggle' Calculators will no longer be distributed or sold beginning in September 2025. The use of 'Blue Goggle' Calculators is still approved for use in the Faculty of Science.
