Biography:
Naima Samuel is a PhD student in the Sustainability Management program at the School of Environment, Enterprise, and Development (SEED). Her PhD research is focused on understanding dynamics of cross-sector partnerships in promoting sustainable development. Naima has an MBA in Information Technology Management from South Korea, an MA in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Waterloo, and a BSc in Information Systems from Nigeria. She served as a consultant and researcher on energy related projects including the market diffusion of small nuclear modular reactors, and feasibility assessment of offshore wind energy and national energy policy analysis led by the South Korean government. Naima has served in several leadership roles including CEO of a not-for-profit corporation in Ontario. She has 8+ years of experience working in diverse areas ranging from business strategy to sustainability, stakeholder relations, change management, administration, strategic planning, process improvement, and software development. She is presently co-chairing the Educational Environment and the Development of Learners Working Group under the President’s Anti-Racism Taskforce (PART). Naima speaks 4 languages; and has lived on four different sub-continents. She is a self-motivated business professional with a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. She is passionate about Christian ministry and public service and enjoys traveling, books, movies, music, time with family and friends, and building relationships.
