Biography
Dr. Lisa Aultman-Hall is Professor and Chair of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada. She returned to her native Ontario in 2020 after 24-years as an engineering faculty member in the United States. Dr. Aultman-Hall is an alumnus of McMaster University.
Dr. Aultman-Hall’s research focuses on sustainable transportation systems, especially methods to collect unique databases for modeling and analysis of long-distance travel, transportation sector emissions, network resiliency, streetscape design, and non-motorized transportation. A common thread in her work is the pursuit of accessibility metrics that speak to equity. Until recently, as Professor of Civil Engineering, she served several leadership roles at the interdisciplinary University of Vermont Transportation Research Center as well as serving as the Associate Director of the National Center for Sustainable Transportation with the University of California Davis.
Dr. Aultman-Hall is the co-author of over 200 journal papers, conference papers, and technical reports. Her portfolio includes management of over $23M of research grants and programs. Dr. Aultman-Hall’s professional service has included committee work the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies as well as board membership with Council of Engineering Systems Universities and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute on Aging. Dr. Aultman-Hall’s community service has often involved advocacy of non-motorized transportation including bicycle transportation.
