Are you wondering what to get your loved one for the holidays? Curious about how to reduce your material footprint and give back to the environment? Come to our DIY Seed Paper Workshop!

Hosted by Anne and Bev from the Ecology Lab, this workshop aims to teach participants how to create seed paper using paper and native seeds. The goal is to reduce your material foot print by reusing paper and planting native seeds.

There are a total of 15 free kits available for anyone interested in learning a new skill. These kits are first come first serve and include some paper pulp, a holiday themed cookie cutter and some native seeds.. Kits are free to be picked up at the Sustainability Office (EV1-301) Monday - Friday (9:00am-4:30pm)! To prepare for the workshop checkout the steps below!

The Sustainability Office encourages people to test their abilities and bring their own seeds and paper. Prep instructions can be found below!

Where: Hosted through Teams.

Sign up for your free Kits today:The Sustainability Office will be giving away 15 Kits to participants for free. The first 15 registrants will automatically be given a kit whence signing up. For those interested in participating but do not want a kit, all you will need is some seeds and some shredded recycled paper! Kits are available for pick up at the Sustainability Office.

This workshop is free for any student.

Prepwork before the Workshop:

To enjoy the workshop, follow these steps 1-2 hours before the workshop time.

  • If you recieved a Seed Paper Kit, soak the paper pulp in a jar for 1 hour.
  • If you have not recieved a Seed Paper Kit, soak shredded paper for 1-2 hours. Afterwards, shred the soaked paper using a blender. Make sure you have a cookie cutter, some seeds and a waterbottle or something you can roll the paper with.
