Native pollinators and you!

Wednesday, July 11, 2018 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)
Bee on plant stem

Want to learn more about the wonderful world of pollinators? Join the Sustainability Office for the first talk of their Brown Bag Lunch & Learn series! From bumble bees to butterflies, you’ll get to know some of our 400+ species of native bees, learn what gives us chocolate (hint: it's not bees), and discover easy things you can do to help #savethepollinators.

A little teaser...

  • Did you know that that Canada has over 800 species of native bees? (Bonus fact: Honeybees aren't one of them!)
  • Did you know that 96% of terrestrial birds rear their young on insects? Even little chickadees need more than 5,000 caterpillars to raise one nest of babies! Choose native plants and put the spray away if you like songbirds.

*Please note that lunch will not be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own to enjoy during the talk. Registration is encouraged and can be done through our Eventbrite page
