Help Campus Housing go green!

Students play an incredibly important role in making the University of Waterloo a more sustainable campus. To support students in this journey, we've launched the Green Residence program in partnership with Campus Housing.

The goal of the Green Residence Program is to support sustainable behaviours across the residence community, provide meaningful feedback to the University on housing sustainability, and build student sustainability leadership skills through Green Residence Ambassadors.

As a Green Residence Ambassador, students have the opportunity to:

  • Gain valuable leadership, teamwork, and communication experience
  • Organize sustainability outreach and engagement activities in their residence
  • Make a tangible impact by helping reduce the University’s environmental footprint
  • Make new friends and have fun!

Testimonials

Find out what what previous Green Residence Ambassadors have to say:

Being a green residence ambassador has been a great opportunity for me! Not only have I learned more about sustainability and how to be sustainable in my everyday life, but I have also gained a sense of leadership and belonging within my community here at The University of Waterloo!

Vanessa (2025/26 cohort)

Being a Green Residence Ambassador has shown me how everyday habits in residence can become much more sustainable. I’ve loved seeing people reflect on our conversations during pop-ups. It reminds me that small actions can add up to real change in our community.
