Help Campus Housing go green!

Students play an incredibly important role in making the University of Waterloo a more sustainable campus. To support students in this journey, we've launched the Green Residence program in partnership with Campus Housing.

The goal of the Green Residence Program is to support sustainable behaviours across the residence community, provide meaningful feedback to the University on housing sustainability, and build student sustainability leadership skills through Green Residence Ambassadors.

As a Green Residence Ambassador, students have the opportunity to:

  • Gain valuable leadership, teamwork, and communication experience
  • Organize sustainability outreach and engagement activities in their residence
  • Make a tangible impact by helping reduce the University’s environmental footprint
  • Make new friends and have fun!

Testimonials

Find out what what previous Green Residence Ambassadors have to say:

During my time as a Green Residence Ambassador, I’ve been able to engage with like minded environmentalists and with the wider student body. The events that I and my fellow ambassadors planned and ran over the past couple of months really enhanced my sustainability and recycling practices, both of which will stay with me throughout and after my academic career here at the University of Waterloo.

Jaydon (2024/25 cohort)

I love being a Green Residence Ambassador because it has helped me grow, and help others to grow, too. The program has equipped me with some essential skills for leading community sustainability movements, and I've learned so much about how to make my everyday life greener.
