Abstract

This report investigates how to go about putting into place an on-going reporting structure for campus activities. To complete this report, the existing systems for the collection and monitoring of information for Wastes & Hazards, resources & Infrastructure, Business of Education, and retail and Food Services were evaluated. The study also proposes methods for ensuring that environmental regulations are being met. In 1995, a group of student’s known as “The Enviro-Base Team” embarked upon a project that was intended to change the way environmental issues were perceived and handled at the University of Waterloo. The intent of the project was to establish an environmentally centered database that could be used as a resource for the community. Through the identification and resolution of environmental issues on campus, UW could serve as an example for individuals, businesses and other institutions.
