The University of Waterloo strives to be progressive in its fields of study to prepare students for the changing world. It also attempts to foster conscientious students by encouraging them to better the world around them, both on the large and local scale. Although the University already operates waste reduction and recycling programs on campus, faculties such as Environmental Studies are encouraged to incorporate studies for further improvement into their wider education programs. As part of broadening our understanding of concepts and practices in waste management, our group focused on gathering information on paper waste sent into the wider Ontario community by the University of Waterloo. The goals of this project were to identify relevant contacts on campus, determine the sources of out-going paper products, better define estimates on the weight of that waste, and make preliminary suggestions for improvements… For full text, please e-mail
