Abstract | Past studies on campus investigate the on campus recycling knowledge of students at the University of Waterloo showed a gap in the knowledge among students. To investigate whether the status of recycling knowledge among students had changed since the last study was undertaken, we surveyed students in the Environmental Studies faculty. Recycling on campus promotes sustainability, generates revenue and is an important component of the waste management system at the University. Our study was designed to determine if there was still a lack of campus recycling knowledge and if so why. We asked questions that were designed to determine how students get their knowledge and how they could be better educated. We analyzed the data we collected and came to a conclusion that there is a lack of knowledge and we made recommendations regarding this situation and how it could be changed to better promote recycling and sustainability on campus… For full text, please e-mail sustainability@uwaterloo.ca |
