Abstract | An Environmental Management System is the part of the overall management system that includes organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing and maintaining an environmental policy. The University of Waterloo has had difficulty in measuring the success of its environmental initiatives. This is due to the decentralized nature of the required information and the lack of a system to efficiently collect and manage large amounts of environmental data.
