Abstract

The goal of this report is to identify environmentally friendly alternatives to the current cleaning products used on the campus of the University of Waterloo. The retrofit design of the Environmental Studies 2 building in particular should incorporate these products as an example to the rest of the campus. A previous study of this nature was conducted in the Spring of 1991. For this updates study, the group looked at the unfavorable qualities of the G.H. Woods products currently being used by custodial services, such as levels of hazardous materials and lack of biodiversity. Methodology information was gathered through a variety of sources including Material Safety Data Sheets, the Internet, distributed questionnaires and customer services representatives.
