Abstract

Many programs exist on the UW campus to recycle paper, glass, cans, and other materials. This practice reduces landfill waste, and unnecessary resource exploitation by reprocessing waste for further use. Currently however, the staff and faculty of the University of Waterloo are not required to purchase office supplies that have any recycled content. Furthermore, official University suppliers provide only a limited selection of such products. The full benefits of recycling can only be realized if the material being recycled on campus is purchased again in the form of recycled products.
