Abstract

In the age of the ‘3Rs’ (reduce, reuse, recycle), the reuse of items is essential. Surplus stores are becoming not just a way of obtaining cheap equipment, but a way of reducing waste. As natural and economic resources are depleting, surplus stores are fast becoming a popular way of obtaining goods. With an increasing demand of used equipment, the University of Waterloo wanted to perform a detailed study of the whole surplus goods store and aimed towards reducing the operating cost of the store by maximizing its efficiency.
