Abstract

As we progress into the 21st century, the problem concerning waste disposal continues to be a growing and very pressing issue. However, a variety of initiatives have been developed to reduce the amount of waste entering our landfills. Through the creation of such programs as curb-side recycling and composting, the amount of waste being generated can easily be reduced. Our society cannot continue as we have been in relation to our consumption and waste patterns. We must take more precaution and action concerning the environment. Our waste audit was done to assess the waste stream contents of the Brubaker dining room in the Student Life Centre, and to present feasible recommendations for improvement that could be implemented at the University of Waterloo… For full text, please e-mail sustainability@uwaterloo.ca
