About the Student Service Centre

The Centre

The Centre is a new student service unit built to enrich the student experience with a student-focused approach to services. The 5,000 square foot space includes 3 self-service stations, including a printer/photocopier, 8 wickets, 6 consultation rooms, a waiting room/study space, and a case management queuing system that will improve student wait times and the overall student experience.

The Centre combines the front-line services of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) and the Registrar’s Office (RO), including Student Awards & Financial Aid (SAFA) -- and the Student Success Office will join in 2019. Some services of other units, such as Student Financial Services (SFS) and Waterloo Professional Development Program (WatPD)/EDGE have also been incorporated.

Recent improvements to the student experience include: a self-serve proof of enrolment letter on Quest, extended hours, the ability to pay fines in the Registrar's Office/The Centre, on-the-spot transcripts for both graduate and undergraduate students, and an expanded e-commerce platform, making it easier than ever to order and ship documents. Coming in January: Service Canada will have a presence in The Centre, allowing students to pick up their SIN card by appointment.

Our work is guided by the following principles:

  1. Put students first

  2. Provide exceptional service

  3. To be a leader on campus for student experience excellence

  4. To have fun and make students feel welcome and comfortable
