The University of Waterloo Act, SO 1972, c. 200, s.11 (“Act”) establishes two governing bodies for the University: the Board of Governors and the Senate. By the act of registering, each student becomes bound by the University Policies, guidelines, and academic regulations established by the University’s governing bodies.
Academic calendars
The academic calendars are the primary contractual documents between students and the University of Waterloo. The calendars provide information on curriculum, academic programs and plans, requirements and degrees, courses, and academic regulations.
- Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar - is published annually in April.
- Graduate Studies Academic Calendar - is updated three times a year, typically, at the start of each academic term.
Students are advised that in addition to the Calendar, students’ relationships with the University are governed by University Policies, guidelines, and academic regulations that are established by the University under its governing bodies. For more information, visit the Secretariat website.
Archived versions of both the undergraduate and graduate calendars are available for reference.
