Celebrate Bat Week with a Lecture from Professor Liam McGuire - The Science and Mystery of Bats

Wednesday, October 26, 2022 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Liam’s research interest lies with how animals cope with energetic challenges and how these challenges are driven by environmental conditions and constraints. He’ll guide us through the diversity of bats, from vampire bats to sucker-footed bats, hammer-headed bats, fishing bats, wrinkle-faced bats, flying foxes and more!

He’ll also explain how bats find food, where they live and their fascinating skill of echolocation. Liam will discuss his own research on bat migration and hibernation including threats to bat populations from wind turbines to wildlife disease.

This is an event that will be taking place at the University of Waterloo and streamed live.
