Undergraduate degrees
There is no single way to be a biologist at Waterloo. From biomedical science and biochemistry to microbiology, ecology, physiology, bioinformatics, and environmental biology, you will become part of a diverse and engaged scientific community.
Take the opportunity to shape your own experience through co-op, research projects, field courses, and specialized options while learning alongside researchers who are curious about everything from viruses to wetlands. We work hard to create an environment where students feel known, supported, and encouraged to find their place, and their people, in science.
Find the path to your future
Our highly ranked co-op program is the largest in the world, giving you an edge in the job market post-graduation. Undergraduate students in Biology can apply to co-op or complete their studies as a regular four-year degree.
Graduate degrees
Our research-based master’s (MSc) and doctoral (PhD) programs span biochemistry, computational biology, ecology and evolution, microbiology, and physiology and cell biology. This breadth makes it possible for students to build projects that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries. Drawing on Waterloo’s larger ecosystem, graduate students can also combine deep biological training with interdisciplinary opportunities such as the Collaborative Water Program.
