Booking the FACS facility

  • Book 2 days ahead when you would like to use the facility.  A reservation and account number are required in order to use the FACS service. The reservation is successful ONLY after the FACS Service Booking form (PDF) is completed.
  • Each user has to submit the FACS Service Booking form (PDF), providing the experiment information, such as type of experiment (i.e. Cell cycle, sorting, 4-color analysis, etc), cell type, cell size, fluorochromes used, etc
  • If you would like to sort cells, you have to arrange it one week ahead, since I have to change the buffer to PBS to minimize the physiological change of the cells.

  • Normally, there will be a limit of use to a maximum of 4 hours/day per primary investigator (PI) up to 8 hours/week per PI.  It is expected that users will stain their cells or whatever other substance they wish to analyze in their own laboratory and will bring the samples to the facility ready to sort or analyze (e.g in 5-mL BD Falcon tubes, labeled clearly).  If experimental reasons dictate that staining must occur in the FACS facility, users must bring their own expendable supplies or replace expendables used at the facility (e.g. stains, tubes, pipet tips), and collect all wastes and belongings back to your own lab.  Usage should occur during working hours unless previously arranged with FACS manager.
