On Monday, 1 April 2013 the Waterloo Colloquium on Language Learning and Teaching took place in Hagey Hall at the University of Waterloo.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 2-4 pm, the Germanic and Slavic Studies and the Diefenbaker Chair hosted the stimulating colloquium “Celan's Orientation Between the Languages”.
The Annual Conference of the Austrian Studies Association is being held at the University of Waterloo. Co-sponsored by the Association, the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo, the Waterloo Centre for German Studies, and the Austrian Cultural Forum, the conference brings together students and scholars from across North America and Europe.
The 2013 Jakob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm Lecture will be given by Harvard film scholar Eric Rentschler. Professor Rentschler, who will also be receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Waterloo for his leading scholarship in film studies, will be speaking on the film The Lives of Others / Das Leben der Anderen, winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2007.
