Problem area

With the Region of Waterloo’s population projected to reach 1 million by 2050, the University of Waterloo will face increasing pressure on student resources, infrastructure, and services. This research study will examine how population growth impacts student enrolment, housing availability, education costs, access to essential resources (food, water, healthcare), mobility, employment, financial stability, sustainability, and the overall quality of the academic experience. The project will also explore how engineering and science-related disciplines can develop solutions to ensure future students have equal or improved access to education and campus life.
