The Applied AI for future-focused professionals micro-course gives you hands-on experience with the tools, concepts and responsible practices shaping today’s workplaces. Whether you’re in co-op or a regular (non-co-op) program, you’ll develop practical AI capabilities you can apply immediately to projects, problem-solving and career opportunities.  

You’ll begin by developing a strong, practical understanding of today’s AI tools—what they are, how they work, and how to use them responsibly in academic, professional and community contexts. This includes exploring ethical considerations and the broader impacts of AI, helping you build confidence in not just using AI, but using it well.

As the course progresses, you’ll shape your own learning pathway. You’ll select two AI topics for deeper skill development, allowing you to focus on areas that align with your interests, goals or prior experience. This flexibility ensures the course is meaningful whether you’re encountering AI for the first time or looking to build on existing knowledge.

To wrap up the micro-course, you’ll reflect on the skills and insights you’ve gained and consider how they translate to your future career. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how AI can support your work—and how to articulate your AI capabilities in co-op work terms, job experiences and future roles.

Completing the micro-course 

• It takes about 10 hours to complete all three sections of the micro-course.
• There is no time limit for completion of the micro-course.
• Each section of the micro-course will support your AI literacy, including practical applications of AI in workplace settings.
• The micro-course is self-directed and not for credit. It is intended to augment your existing AI skills and provide you with tools that could be useful in today’s evolving workplaces.
• Once completed, showcase the micro-course on your resume through the provided, ready-to-customize resume bullet points.
