PD15: Cultivating Inclusive and Healthy Workplaces

Are you ready to make workplaces healthier, more inclusive and more effective? PD15 explores how diversity and well-being drive organizational success, giving you practical tools you can immediately apply to your co-op and EDGE experiences. From designing wellness surveys and conducting gap analyses to proposing equitable practices that create real, lasting change.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to articulate your ideas around workplace culture in professional communications and showcase tangible, inclusive achievements on your résumé. This interdisciplinary course ensures your learning reflects current organizational trends and real workplace expectations. You’ll regularly reflect on your experiences, track your evolving skills, and consider how your growth aligns with the demands of today’s wellness-oriented work environments—all while engaging in real workplace activities.

What will you do in PD15?

Discover how health, wellness, and inclusion are reshaping the future of work. You’ll explore real-world scenarios and apply what you learn through activities designed to build career-ready competencies. You’ll build practical skills aligned with the Future Ready Talent Framework (FRTF) and apply them directly to your co-op or EDGE experience through workplace-based activities and assessments.

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Synthesize trends in organizational health to provide evidence-based enhancements for your workplace.
  • Analyze diverse perspectives to inform professional decision-making and teamwork.
  • Prepare professional communications to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for growth, engage in and reflect upon learning opportunities to promote continuous improvement.

What does the course structure look like?

PD15 is a 10-week course that includes approximately 4-5 hours of instructional content, 4-5 hours of WIL activities, 3-4 hours of reflection, and WIL workplace application (4-5 hours). Over the course of the term, you’ll:

Understand the context

Examine how health, wellness, inclusion, organizational culture and workplace trends are shaping the future of work across industries through topics explored in modules such as:

  • Introduction to Health & Well-being in the workplace
  • Workplace culture and collaboration
  • Workplace Design for Diversity & Inclusion

Build transferable professional skills

Strengthen skills in communication, intercultural effectiveness, collaboration and innovation across diverse workplace settings.

Apply skills through authentic WIL activities

Engage in industry-informed activities that explore workplace wellness strategies, for example, survey design and conducting gap analyses to support diverse and inclusive teams.

Engage in reflection moments focused on your professional growth

As you move through the course, you will reflect on your experiences, strengths, goals and evolving workplace identity while connecting your learning to future career development.

Complete a workplace application project

Bring your learning together by completing an organizational-based project connected to your co-op or EDGE experience, integrating the knowledge and skills developed throughout the course.
