WIL 612 is designed to provide graduate students with work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities focused on leadership development and project management skills. This course will combine theoretical and practical learning experiences to help students effectively lead teams and manage projects in professional settings.
The course is currently under development and will consist of two main phases.
Phase one: Students will participate in interactive lectures, workshops and discussions to develop foundational leadership and project management competencies. Topics may include communication, decision-making, emotional intelligence and tools for managing scope, time and resources. Consideration for Project Management Certification requirements will be incorporated into the course.
Phase two: Students will take on a leadership and project management role supporting a team of students engaged in a WIL project within a course. These projects will allow students opportunities to lead diverse teams, create project plans, manage workflows, and deliver outcomes effectively.
