Abstract

Healthcare in Canada has a substantial environmental impact, with surgical care contributing significantly through emissions, waste, and resource use.

Reducing this footprint requires innovative solutions that bridge engineering and clinical practice.

In this seminar, we will examine environmental challenges in surgical care and highlight strategies for decarbonization. Examples of successful interdisciplinary collaborations will illustrate how engineers and clinicians can drive meaningful change. The session will conclude with an open discussion on the role of materials, chemicals, and engineering innovations in shaping a greener healthcare system.
