Abstract:
Biotechnology is an ancient art. Our ancestors used this art in making wines and cheeses thousands of years ago. Biotechnology is also a modern revolution. Through the understanding of cell and molecular biology and invention of numerous tools, processes, consumables, equipment and automations, biotechnology has brought us tremendous benefits in recent decades, including life-saving medicines. Recent advancement in gene and cell therapy has pushed biotechnology yet to another frontier with promising medicines and even cure to genetic diseases. This seminar provides a high-level overview of the biotech industry and career opportunities to students who may be interested in pursuing a career in this industry.
