Seminar | Mathematical Modelling of Enzymatic Polymerization of Glucans, by Dr. Rosane Rech

Please join the Department of Chemical Engineering on Thursday, September 19, for a seminar on the mathematical modelling of enzymatic polymerization of glucans by Dr. Rosane Rech, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul’s Food Science and Technology Institute.

You are welcome to attend Elnaz Halakoo's PhD defence, in which they will discuss their research to investigate pervaporative desalination of high-salinity water and dehydration of ethylene glycol, ethanol and isopropanol.

The Department of Chemical Engineering invites you to a seminar about composite (bio)sensors for non-invasive medical diagnostics, by Dr. Yael Zilberman-Simakov.

Please join the Department of Chemical Engineering on Friday, October 4, for a seminar by Dr. Patricia Comeau, a biomaterials engineer with particular interest and expertise in designing materials for bone and controlled release applications, on her research developing calcium-phosphate systems for targeted therapy.

Abstract

The Department of Chemical Engineering welcomes you to a seminar by Dr. Hamed Shahsavan, who will be speaking about soft stimuli-responsive and shape programmable materials in the design and fabrication of microscale robots and devices.

Wednesday, October 23, 2019 1:00 pm - 1:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Seminar | Centrifugal Separation of Biotechnology, by Dr. Wallace Leung

Please join the Department of Chemical Engineering for a seminar, titled Centrifugal Separation of Biotechnology, by Professor and Chair of Innovative Products and Technologies at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Dr. Wallace Leung.

Thursday, October 24, 2019 3:30 pm - 3:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Seminar | Polymer Membranes for Gas Separations, by Dr. Jeong-Hoon Kim

You are invited to join the Department of Chemical Engineering for a seminar, titled Polymer Membranes for Gas Separations, by Dr. Jeong-Hoon Kim. He is the Head/Research Fellow at the Greenhouse Gas Separation and Recovery Research Group in the C1 Gas Separation and Conversion Research Center of the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology’s Carbon Resources Institute.

You are welcome to attend Alison Scott's PhD defence, in which she will discuss her research, using two case studies to discuss a general framework for the design of polymeric materials that is limited by neither industry, nor application, nor specific type of polymeric material.

Let’s Thrive together!

Thrive is a verb that means ‘to prosper’ and ‘to flourish.’ Thrive Week is a series of events focused on building positive mental health for University of Waterloo students, faculty and staff. The Department of Chemical Engineering welcomes every opportunity to support mental health and help develop the tools we need to prosper all year long in our personal, academic and professional lives.

Please come to our Department Lunchroom, E6-4024, between 1:30-4:00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, where we encourage everyone to reflect on what wellness means for you.
