Professor Emeritus Jeno Scharer

Professor Emeritus Jeno Scharer passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the age of 74. Professor Scharer began his career in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo in September of 1967 and retired in May 2004. During this time, he was a dedicated researcher in the area of biochemical engineering and loved teaching young people.

He continued to be an active researcher during his retirement through supervising students, attending conferences, writing papers and playing key roles in research grants. He truly enjoyed the camaraderie of his peers in the Department and will always be remembered for his friendship and the many contributions to the University of Waterloo.

A memorial service will take place Thursday, September 5 from 7-9pm at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo. Condolences for the family and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, the University of Waterloo Chemical Engineering Department or to a charity of your choice may be arranged through the funeral home (link).
