Dr. Mahmoudi’s first teaching term nets an award

Congratulations to Dr. Pendar Mahmoudi who, in her first term teaching, was recognized by the Waterloo Engineering Society with a Teaching Excellence Award.

The award, bestowed thanks to nominations from students in her CHE 121: Engineering Computation class, was a tremendous – and welcome – surprise for Dr. Mahmoudi.

She explains that teaching has been challenging and exciting because it’s still very new to her: “I'm doing the best that I can, trying to explain concepts the way I would have wanted them explained to me. Receiving the award was a massive surprise – and it’s great confirmation for me to know that my approach is effective for my students.”
