University of Waterloo chemical engineering professor Zhongwei Chen is one of the new cohort of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. The RSC has named the incoming 80 members of The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists on Sep 13th, 2016. Those named to the College represent the emerging generation of scholarly, scientific and artistic leadership in Canada.
Professor Zhongwei Chen is the Canada Research Chair in Advanced Materials for Clean Energy and a 2015 recipient of the prestigious NSERC Steacie Memorial Fellowship. His research program focuses on the development of advanced electrochemical energy materials for fuel cells and batteries, with contributions that have improved our fundamental understanding of clean energy applications and broken down some of the most significant barriers to their commercialisation.

The induction ceremony for the 2016 cohort will take place on November 18 at RSC’s General Annual Meeting in in Kingston, Ontario.
