Celebrate Waterloo Engineering!

Come show your spirit and get your purple on! 

The tradition continues on July 12, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm to celebrate Engineering Day with our incredible community of students, alumni, professors and staff. This year's activities will include a colour throw (wear a white t-shirt!), BBQ featuring the famous 'Boggan Burgers, free treats and refreshments including purple Koolaid as well as soft-serve ice cream and popcorn, a photo booth, The Tool and The Tool Bearers, and so much more!

CTRF debate victory

On Monday May 27th, the annual Bison Transport Debate was held at the 54th Annual Canadian Transportation Research Forum (CTRF) Conference in Vancouver, BC. The Bison Transport Debate has been conducted in conjunction with the CTRF Annual Meeting since 1996.

"I am very pleased to announce the award recipients for 2018, and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them for their outstanding contributions to the University of Waterloo," writes Vice-President, Academic & Provost Jim Rush.

Effective May 1, 2005, in accordance with the 2003 Faculty Salary Settlement, the University of Waterloo established an Outstanding Performance Fund to reward faculty members for outstanding contribution in teaching and scholarship.

The 2018 winners from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering are:

Congratulations to the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) UW Chapter, placed 2nd out of 26 schools for the 2019 Presidents Best Chapter Award. This award will be given out at the Student Chapter Leaders Workshop during the CSCE annual conference in Laval, Montreal on Friday, June 14, 2019. Once again Congratulations to Grant Mitchell, Sehrish Ahmad and Team Waterloo!!!

The 3MT challenges competitors to use 1 static slide and 3 minutes to explain the breadth and significance of their graduate research to a non-specialist audience.Haya Almutairi, a PhD Candidate in Civil & Environmental Engineering, was chosen to represent Waterloo at the Ontario Provincial 3MT finals. Haya advanced from the provincial finals to become one of twelve Canadian National 3MT finalists.To read more and to vote click here

Michelle Liu carefully plans each hour of each day three weeks in advance to figure out where she needs to be and when.

Between volunteering up to 40 hours a month in several different roles on and off campus and keeping on top of her graduate studies, she constantly checks her changing calendar.

“I call it 80 productive hours a week, divided between volunteering and my studies,” Liu says with a laugh.
