UW Civil Engineering Student Receives Gates Cambridge Scholarship
A Civil Engineering grad (BASc 2013) has recently received one of the most prestigious international scholarships available. Musa Chunge was awarded a Gates Cambridge Scholarship where he will be pursuing an MPhil in Engineering.
There was intense competition for the awards with over 3500 applicants and 51 scholarships offered. The selection criteria consist of:
- Outstanding intellectual ability
- Leadership potential
- Commitment to improving the lives of others
- A good fit between the applicant’s qualifications & aspirations and the postgraduate programme at Cambridge for which they are applying
Musa’s research interests are the advancement of construction technology and the concept of morphing structures or structural muscles.
The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering congratulates Musa on his outstanding achievement.
