Course Enrolment

There are several methods of registering for graduate courses in Civil and Environmental Engineering depending on the level of the course and whether the student is taking the course towards their degree, or as an extra or audit. To take a course to count towards your degree, you should be able to register directly through Quest. If you would like to take a course as an extra or audit, you much complete the graduate studies course add/drop form. For further questions regarding course registration, please contact civemeng@uwaterloo.ca (MEng students) or civegrad@uwaterloo.ca (MASc and PhD students).

You can view a course description of the above courses and many more via the library of courses in the Graduate Studies Academic Calendar; however, not all the courses listed in this calendar are offered each year. Please refer to the Schedule of Classes for current upcoming course offerings.

Courses with your supervisor(s)

You can take no more than one half of your course requirements with your supervisor(s).

For example, if you have to take three courses for your PhD, only one can be with your supervisor(s). As a MASc student you need to take four courses; in that case, a maximum of two courses could be with your supervisor(s).

CEE Policy for Audits

For a student to receive an "AUD" credit for a graduate course within the Department of Civil of Environmental Engineering, the following criteria must be met:

  1. The student must complete the equivalent of at least 30% of the graded items with a grade of at least 70%
