Urban Engineering Week 2022 has been a highlight for the department and the Turkstra Chair in Urban Engineering, Nadine Ibrahim, this term, which took place Oct 31 - Nov 4 2022, aligning to start with UN Habitat’s World Cities Day.
Thanks to everyone that attended in-person or online, or popped in just to check it out. Thanks to everyone who spread the world, shared a poster, forwarded an email or brought a friend along. Thanks to our Engineers-in-Residence Kealy Dedman, Erin Mahoney, and Mike Murray, from Peel Region, York Region, and Waterloo Region respectively, for lending some of their time to share perspectives on sustainability, leadership and governance. Heartfelt thanks also to Peel Region staff Fatimah Hussain and Imran Motala, for accepting Kealy's invitation in joining her in-person to speak with our undergraduate and graduate students on career pathways and job prospects. And huge thanks once again to Engineer-in-Residence Kealy Dedman and Planner in Residence Becca Nagorsky for sharing two sides of the coin - two tales of the city - and our Turkstra Talks speaker Marta Berbés-Blázquez who delivered a great talk on environmental justice in cities to a full room that was standing room only!
And thank you to Carter Klanderud who helped out with all the planning, and helping run it so well everyday. Lots of thanks and gratitude to Lisa for the amazing catering, and for all our CEE staff for support Lorraine, Victor, Dana, Shannon, Victoria, Etta and Keya.
Stay tuned for Urban Engineering Week 2023 that will take place Oct 30 - Nov 3 2023.
Lots to look forward to in 2023.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
