About the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business

Waterloo's catalyst for entrepreneurship and transformation

The Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business is the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Engineering catalyst for entrepreneurship and transformation.

We bridge business, technology and engineering to turn ideas and opportunities into action and impact. Through education, experiential learning, venture creation, commercialization and innovation, we help move what’s possible forward.

Our graduates are entrepreneurial thinkers, builders and leaders who can launch ventures, drive innovation within organizations and create meaningful change.

Building on Waterloo’s entrepreneurial culture

Founded in 2002 by Professor Emeritus Howard Armitage, the Conrad School and the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program, was created to support and expand the University of Waterloo’s longstanding culture of entrepreneurship.

Today, the Conrad School continues that work by bringing together education, experiential learning, venture creation, commercialization and innovation to help people turn possibilities into action and create meaningful impact.

Where business, entrepreneurship and technology come together.

Our place within the Faculty of Engineering is central to what makes our approach distinctive. We bring entrepreneurial thinking together with engineering and technological expertise, creating opportunities to move ideas from possibility toward application, commercialization and impact.

Our programs welcome students from across the University of Waterloo and beyond, bringing together people with different academic backgrounds, perspectives and expertise. Whether their foundation is engineering, business, science, arts, health or another discipline, students can apply entrepreneurship and innovation to the challenges and opportunities they care about.

Creating conditions for change

Entrepreneurship and transformation don’t happen in isolation. They take people, ideas, knowledge, experience and connections coming together to create new possibilities.

As an academic catalyst, the Conrad School creates those conditions. We connect people with opportunities, ideas with expertise and research with pathways to commercialization. Through education and experiential learning, we help people explore possibilities, test ideas, build ventures and drive change within organizations and communities.
