Award description:
Travel funds, valued at up to $1,500, are available for undergraduate and/or graduate students registered at the University of Waterloo who participate in a recognized Croatian language or cultural study abroad program, an exchange program, or an approved co-op term in Croatia. Selection will be based on a statement describing their intended Croatian experience and why they hope to receive this funding. Interested students may submit an international experience award application found on the Student Awards & Financial Aid website or Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs website by March 15 or Nov. 15 for an upcoming experience.

Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Undergraduate or graduate students registered at the University of Waterloo who are participating in a recognized institutional Croatian language or cultural studies program abroad, an exchange, or an approved co-op position at a business located in Croatia.
- Selection will be based on a one-page statement describing their intended Croatian experience and why they hope to receive this funding.
- Interested students must complete the applicable international experience award application found on the SAFA or GSPA website.
- Applications will be considered twice annually. Students may apply by March 15 or November 15 for travel taking place between May 1 of that year and April 30 of the following year.
- The awards will be adjudicated jointly between SAFA/GSPA and a designated representative of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies based on the application and statement of intent.
- As part of the selection, the Department will confirm the student’s registration and/or acceptance in the program/co-op position before funds will be processed.
- The Department will notify the award winners and encourage them to submit a one-page report one month after their return from Croatia.

- Attach required documentation (as per the application form)
- Submit your complete application package to Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) by the appropriate term deadline
