ESQ Fall 2017 Registration is Open!
Engineering Science Quest (ESQ) offers both online and paper registration for its programs. The following explains how to register as well as various policies surrounding registration.
How to register
Please register your child with the grade they will be going into. When ESQ staff review registrations, they will correct the grade information, but if there are no spots in the proper camp, you will be left without a spot.
Engineering Science Quest campers must be registered by a custodial parent or legal guardian, and have that person listed as the “Primary Parent” in the camper’s registration file. We are unable to accept registrations that are not completed by a child’s custodial parent or legal guardian.
The fastest and easiest way to register for our programs is online. Our online registration system is created and maintained by the University of Waterloo and is kept to the standards the school has for electronic commerce transactions. All online registration is hosted on the school's secure server, fortuna.uwaterloo.ca . When you start the online process you will be taken to this site.
The University of Waterloo does not store any credit card numbers on its servers.
Registration availability is updated in real-time on this site. If there are no spots available, you will be unable to register for that week.
By mail and fax
ESQ does accept registration by paper or fax. We cannot guarantee spots when you register this way, and will contact you if your selected week(s) are full to try and find an alternative week that works for you.
If you wish to register by paper or fax, please contact the office, and a form will be sent to you.
ESQ accepts payment via credit card or cheque. We do not accept cash or debit payment. Credit Card payment must be made through our online registration system, we are not able to process payment on the phone or in person.
Cheques must be made out to The University of Waterloo and mailed to:

With generous support from our supporters, ESQ is able to offer bursaries for our summer camp program. A bursary can cover up to 95% of the camp fee, and are awarded based on the completed application form and offer the opportunity for children who normally would not be able to afford our programs to attend. In order to ensure as many children as possible benefit from these bursaries, there is a limit of one per child per summer.
The application package can be found in our download section.
Engineering Science Quest strives to ensure that all campers have the support they need to be successful in camp. Thanks to the sponsorship of Motorola Solutions Foundation, our Program Support helps children who have special needs attend our program. Our Program Assistants will provide support and facilitate the accommodations for children with special needs into the ESQ Summer Camp program. The Program Assistants receive in-depth training in preparation for this position.
With this program we are able to offer limited "low ratio Program Assistants" and "as-needed" support. If you believe that your child could benefit from this service, please contact ESQ by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and/or check off the "Request Program Support" box on the registration form.
There are a limited number of Program Assistants available each week, however every effort will be made to ensure that every child will receive the support they need. Program Assistants are assigned based on the degree of the need and on a first-come-first-serve basis. For more information see our Accessibility Policy available on our download page.
In the summer we offer the following discounts:
- If your family signs up for a total of three or more weeks a $20 discount will be applied to each week.
This discount is applied by our office staff when they review your registration.
In the summer we also offer extended care. Extended care expands the pick up time from ending at 5 PM to ending at 5:30 PM. The costs for this service are as follows:
- $45 for the first child.
- $15 for each additional child.
If you arrive after 5:30, you will be subject to our late camper pick up fee of $5 for 10 minutes per child. For example, if you pick up your child without extended care at 5:09, it will cost $5. If you pick up your child at 5:11 it will cost $10.
If arrangements for cancellations are made with ESQ with more than 2 weeks notice to the start of the intended registered session, a full refund minus a 25% processing fee will be given. Cancellation requests with less than 2 weeks notice will be charged a 50% processing fee. There are no refunds for cancellations given with less then 48 hours notice regardless of cause.
NOTE: There is no charge for switching weeks of camp (pending availability).
If the camp session your interested in is full, we do have an option to put you on a waiting list. To be placed on a waiting list, please register for your desired camp program waitlist online. Once done, contact us and tell us what week you are most interested in attending.
The list operates on a first-come-first-serve basis. When a spot is available our office will contact you via email with directions on how to claim or pass on the offered spot. Please note that in this email, it will mention a time frame that you have to claim your spot by. If you don't claim the offered spot by this deadline, we will offer the camp spot to the next person on the waiting list.
Commitment to barrier free programming
We believe that every child should have the right to experience our programs to their fullest potential. In order to help us achieve this goal, ESQ offers both a bursary and support program. Our Program Support has been made possible by Motorola Solutions Foundation.
