About Community Impact Award
The Environment Community Impact Award celebrates graduating Environment students who have given their time, energy, and leadership to strengthen the Faculty community through meaningful involvement beyond academics.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for this award, students must:
- Meet all degree requirements and either graduated at the prior October convocation or are graduating at the upcoming June convocation.
- Have no active campus incident reports.
- Submit the application via web-form and declared opportunities must be verified.
Award Point System
There are three tiers to this award:
- Green Banana: Students that contribute time and energy to shape our faculty community, strengthen our work, and support peers. Students of this honour will receive an e-award, physical medallion, and an invitation to celebrate after convocation.
- Yellow Banana: Students that contribute significant time and energy to shape our faculty community, strengthen our work, and support peers. Students of this honour will receive a printed award, physical medallion, and an invitation to celebrate after convocation.
- Black Banana: Students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and leadership through sustained contributions that meaningfully shape our faculty community, strengthen our work, and support peers. Students of this honour will receive a printed award, physical medallion, an invitation to celebrate after convocation, and a reference letter from the Dean, Faculty of Environment.
To be awarded any of the tiers, students will declare leadership or volunteer position title(s), hours contributed to each position, their impact on the community (how it relates to the award categories), and a Faculty or Staff contact for verification. Each verified opportunity will be awarded points based on the hours contributed. Other opportunities on campus and outside the Faculty can be considered to earn up to a maximum of 6 additional points. To qualify for the highest tier of this award, students must meet a threshold of hours and have demonstrated contribution to each of the impact categories.

- Faculty committees (Valedictorian Selection, WESEF, branding)
- Faculty indigenization contributor
- Ongoing faculty focus group participant
- One-time workshop host, panellist, or student profile subject
- Program Association President or Executive
- Sustainability Coordinator
- WESEF Chair
Other contributions in Environment or on-campus may be submitted. A maximum of 6 points can be earned for all non-verified experiences declared.
Award Categories
The award is designed to recognize students who have gone above and beyond during their undergraduate degree, helping the Environment community in the five categories: Sustainability, Operational, Leadership, Stewardship, and Wellness.
Sustainability: Experiences that drive positive change for the planet and campus through sustainable action.
Operational: Experiences that create new opportunities, ventures, or solutions that energize our community and its operations.
Leadership: Leadership, inspiring and empowering others to make a difference.
Stewardship: Strengthening our work through hands-on contributions and commitment to faculty mission and values.
Wellness: Promoting mental, physical, and emotional health across the community.
