Workshops: Our outreach classroom workshops have been designed by both students and professors within the Faculty of Environment, with the high school curriculum in mind. Each workshop provides students with the opportunity to see what a real university lecture is like, and has a hands-on component where students do activities done in university labs and tutorials.
Event Booth: Our booths are designed to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote a deeper understanding of environmental studies. Through interactive displays, educational materials, and conversations with student ambassadors, visitors can explore a range of environmental topics and learn how different disciplines contribute to addressing global challenges. If desired, these booths highlight the diverse areas of study within the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, showcasing eight distinct programs. The booth’s focus can be tailored to align with the theme of the event.
Field Trips: Experience what it's like to study in the Faculty of Environment through hands-on learning and exploration. Our on-campus field trips give students the chance to engage in interactive activities based on real course content, and explore our classrooms, labs, and learning spaces. Gain insight into the topics we focus on, from sustainability and climate change to urban planning and environmental policy. Each visit is tailored to the group's interests, offering a unique and immersive look into the world of environmental studies.

The Ontario Envirothon is an environmentally themed academic competition created by Forests Canada, that immerses students in hands-on learning and discovery. It provides students with experience in forests, soils, wildlife, and aquatic ecosystems, while team-based activities are designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. This program offers budding environmental leaders a chance to explore education and career paths in the natural sciences and network with potential mentors.
