Alumni Weekend 2022

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Environment Open House and Faculty Tours

• Check-in, pick up your name tag and enjoy a coffee and breakfast bites in the beautiful Minto Atrium of LEED Platinum Environment 3 as you visit with fellow alumni and enjoy a relaxed start to the day. 

• Then, take a student-led tour through the hallways you once called home and see what’s new in the Faculty of Environment. New and familiar stops will include the Ecology Lab, the rooftop gardens, the planning design studio, and of course, the ESS Coffee Shop!

12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Alumni Weekend Picnic & Milestone Anniversary Celebration

• Join us on BMH Green for a BBQ lunch, beer tent and live music. Check out the new Student Life Centre and Physical Activities Centre expansions and mingle with alumni and friends from all faculties!
• Wear or bring along your favourite University of Waterloo clothing or memorabilia for a chance to win great prizes!
• Milestone Anniversary Celebration
  • This event will feature a special celebration for alumni celebrating 25th, 50th and 55th anniversaries, with an archives display of photos and memorabilia from the milestone years and a celebratory address by University of Waterloo President Vivek Goel.
• Meal Selection
  • Your meal ticket includes a hamburger (halal), grilled chicken burger (halal), or a Beyond Meat burger, side salad, a non-alcoholic beverage and dessert. Beer and wine will be available for purchase on-site for those who are 19+.
  • Attendees are encouraged to pre-purchase meal tickets. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase on-site. Credit and debit only. There will be halal and vegetarian/vegan options available.

• BES '68-70 and friends - Planning | celebrating 50+ years

  • Join your class champions, Chris Fleming, Ian MacNaughton, Mike Koscec and Barry Morrison, along with other classmates and friends to catch up over drinks at the nearby Wildcraft Grill & Long Bar, 425 King Street North, Waterloo, ON

• BES '97 and non-coop '96 - Planning | celebrating 25 years

  • Join your class champions Theresa Warnaar (nee Scavuzzo)  and Kent Taylor, along with other classmates to reconnect with their classmates and catch up over drinks at the Lion Brewery Restaurant at the Huether Hotel, 59 King St. N, Waterloo ON.

• BKI '12 Knowledge Integration (AMST1) | celebrating 10 years

  • Join your class champion, Ryan Voisin and other Amsterdam 1 classmates, as well as the Class of 2017 (Berlin 2) cohort for a fun time in the KI Design Studio, revisiting some of your favourite KI activities and catching up with friends & faculty members.  

• BES '12 and non-coop 2011 - Planning | celebrating 10 years

  • Join your class champions, Andrea Santi and Eric Mark for a walking/LRT tour to see what’s changed in Uptown Waterloo, including Waterloo Park, the Barrel Yards and all the places to grab a frosty beverage and catch up!

• BKI '17 Knowledge Integration (BERLIN 2) | celebrating 5 years

  • Join your class champion, Erin Jamieson and your fellow Knowledge Integrators back in the studio for a time of fellowship and fun! Relive such excellent memories as reading Banding Together, and debating which font to use on our didactics, as we participate in fun activities to test how literate, numerate, articulate, and collaborative we’ve stayed 5 years out!

    We have several contingencies planned in case COVID restrictions limit gathering sizes indoors, but we hope we are joined by the FIRST ever graduating class of KI, the Class of 2012, as they celebrate their 10-year reunion. Many of KI’s beloved faculty & staff will also be joining us!

    This is technically the 5-year reunion for the class of 2017, but we want to expand the invite to everyone who was a part of Berlin II. KI is a flexible degree and many of us did not follow an exact 4-year plan. We want to see everyone who ever:

    • Dressed up as John for Halloween
    • Marveled at the Pergamonmuseum in Berlin
    • Forgot a drop cloth during museum install

    • Spent far too long choosing your poster colours/fonts for the Thesis Symposium

    • If any of the above sounds familiar, then this reunion is for YOU!

• BES '17 and non-coop 2016 - Planning | celebrating 5 years

  • Do you remember how many times the new LRT was used as a case study in our classes? Do you remember the LRT construction that caused your blood pressure to rise? Join your class champions, Vikram Hardatt and all of your old friends to reminisce and take a tour of the new(ish) iON LRT to see how Waterloo has changed in the last five years.

• BES '17 and non-coop 2016 - ERS | celebrating 5 years

  • Join your class champion, Connor Bradey and other classmates for a fun-filled day taking a trip down memory lane and participating in some fun ENV activities. There will also be a virtual component to this event for those who cannot attend in person. We hope to see you there!

Reuniting with former classmates is the top reason people enjoy reunions and Class Champions make it happen! Class Champions act as official class reps who work with the alumni office to reach out to former classmates to encourage them to attend their next milestone reunion of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or 55 years!
