The annual Fresh Paint / New Construction exhibition highlights the best in painting and sculpture from Canadian university students. This year emerging artists were selected from the Alberta College of Art and Design, University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan, University of Manitoba, University of Waterloo, York University, OCAD University, University of Ottawa, Concordia University, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Bishop's University, Université Laval, and NSCAD University.

Fine Arts alumna Jessica Lincoln (MFA 2017) has a solo show, The Procession, at the Rotunda Gallery at Kitchener City Hall. The exhibition runs until July 31, 2018.
This will be followed by an exhibition by fellow alumna Jessica Massard (MFA 2013) titled One Fell Swoop.

Fine Arts Alumna Caroline Larsen (BA 2004) has a new solo exhibition at Andrew Rafacz Gallery in Chicago. Caroline's floral compositions are created by filling piping bags with paint and squeezing it onto the canvas.

Jane Tingley, Cindy Poremba and Marius Kintel have created anyWare, an Internet of Things distributed sculpture. The inaugural exhibition on June 30th, 2018, of anyWare will connect three Canadian galleries; Artengine (Ottawa), Eastern Bloc (Montréal), and Electric Perfume (Toronto).
St Marie φ Walker are the 2018 City of Waterloo Artist in Residence
Denise St Marie and Timothy Walker (MFA 2017) of St Marie φ Walker have been selected as the 2018 City of Waterloo Artist in Residence. This year's residency will take place in Waterloo Park to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the park.
