Congratulations to Natalie Hunter (MFA 2013) for receiving the 2018 Excellence in Online Teaching Award from the Centre for Extended Learning (CEL).
This award recognizes course instructors who exemplify a high standard of teaching in one or more of Waterloo's fully-online courses.

Valleyhome Books has published two new volumes of papers by Distinguished Professor Emerita Nancy-Lou Patterson on the subject of detective fiction and science fiction and fantasy. The volumes are part of a series co-edited by Emily E. Auger and Janet Brennan Croft.

Natalie Hunter's (MFA 2013 and Fine Arts sessional instructor) exhibition Staring into the sun runs from January 25 to April 28, 2019 at Rodman Hall Art Centre, Brock University, St. Catharines. The opening reception is Thursday, January 31 at 7:00 pm.
Fine Arts MFA student Brubey Hu is one of the finalists chosen from hundreds of applicants for this year’s UNTAPPED Emerging Artists Competition. These finalists will each be given a free booth to showcase their work at this year’s Artist Project Contemporary Art Fair.
Nancy-Lou Patterson, founder of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo, has died. It has been a while since she was able to visit, but this Department literally wouldn’t be here without her initiative, imagination, leadership, and service. I hope many others will share their stories of her life, but here is a small celebration of her teaching.
