Hello Fine Arts Students from Winter 2020,

The Fine Arts Department wishes to thank you for your patience while we made the necessary arrangements for you to retrieve your personal belongings left behind when the building was closed in March 2020 due the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We recognize the difficulty and stress that this has caused. Please know that your personal property is completely safe and has not, and will not, be disposed of without your consent.

A profile of Fine Arts Alumna Olivia Carvalho (BA ’19) is featured in the Alumni Impact Stories.  Olivia talks about her experiences while a student in the Department and also working as a Liaison Officer for the University and now as Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator at St. Jerome’s University.

My days as a Fine Art undergrad instilled in me a testing mindset, and the importance of doing what you love, both as a student and in my life after graduation.

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Thesis exhibitions give the campus and community-at-large an opportunity to see the end result of two years of intensive research and studio production by emerging visual artists.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting cancellation of the physical thesis exhibitions of the MFA candidates, the Department of Fine Arts and University of Waterloo Art Gallery (UWAG) invite you to explore their exhibitions online.

2020 Fine Arts award winners

Each year the Fine Arts Department recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of our students with the Annual Fine Arts Awards Day ceremony. Sadly, this year the ceremony could not take place.

However, the department would still like to publicly recognize the 2019-2020 award winners. Below is a list of the awards and recipients. Congratulations and well done.
