Taking cues from the cartoneramovement, a grass roots publishing endeavour originating in Argentina in the early 2000s, the Fine Art students Professor Tara Cooper’s class "Takin’ It To The Streets" have created their own artist books, which will be on display in the Dana Porter Library lobby from February 2 to 13.  

Come on February 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the exhibit and try your hand at creating your own artist's book!

The latest animated film by Fine Arts Alum Chris Williams (BA '90) has been nominated for an Academy award in the Best Animated Feature category. The Netflix feature “The Sea Beast” is the story of legendary sea monster hunter whose life is turned upside down when a young girl stows away on his ship and befriends the most dangerous beast of them all.

Current Graduate student and 2023 MFA candidate Behnaz Fatemi is the recipient a Region of Waterloo Funded Individual Artist Project grant for Mobile Safe Zones.

Ashley Guenette's (MFA '22) solo exhibition Put a finger down if you have been personally victimized by social media algorithms, is currently open at the Kennedy Gallery, North Bay. The exhibition runs from November 18, 2022 to January 20, 2023

Congratulation to Sarah Kernohan (MFA '15) and Sheila McMath (MFA '01) for being among the recipients of the 2022 Arts Awards Waterloo Region.  Arts Awards Waterloo Region is a non-profit arts organization that recognizes, honours and celebrates the arts sector in the Region of Waterloo.

This year’s Lumen Festival in Uptown Waterloo happens Saturday September 24th, 6-11 pm and includes the work of several University of Waterloo Fine Arts Alumi.

Fine Arts Alumna Soheila Esfahani (BA 2003), along with artists Jude Abu Zaineh and Xiaojing Yan, are exhibiting in The Art of Living: On Immigration, Community and the Migration of Symbols curated by Catherine Bédard at the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris.
