We recognize that many graduate students are parents, guardians, and/or caregivers. There are resources on and off campus to support you.

Engineering Science Quest (ESQ)

ESQ provides a variety of engaging kids programming, including summer day camps, winter break programming, and March break programming.

Documents for international family members

Within the International Student Resources provided by the Student Success Office, there is information about documents required for international family members to: visit or attend convocation, obtain work permits as a spouse of an international students, and obtain health care coverage. 

Day cares on campus

Bright Starts Co-operative Early Learning Centre: Bright Starts is located on the North Campus of the University of Waterloo and provides priority for enrolment of available childcare spaces to faculty, staff and students of the University of Waterloo.

WUSA Thrift

Find some great clothes and accessories at WUSA Thrift in the basement of the Student Life Centre.

Engineering Outreach

Engineering Outreach offers various programs that are designed for youth in grades one to twelve. They also offer programming that focuses on groups that are currently under-represented in engineering and science.

Science Outreach

UWaterloo Science Outreach is passionate about making science and research an accessible and comprehensible topic for all interested audiences. Events and public lectures provide numerous ways for you to engage in a lifelong discovery of science.

Immigration Consulting

The Student Success Office has an experienced and dedicated team of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs), formerly known as International Student Advisors, who are licensed with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC). All consultations are free and confidential.

Financial Support

There are a number of opportunities to help support graduate students in funding their graduate studies through awards and scholarships, in addition to minimum funding, where applicable.

There are also bursaries available to support students who have children or demonstrate financial need:

UWaterloo Optometry Clinics

The University of Waterloo optometry clinics offer comprehensive vision care for patients aged 6 months and up. Services include eye exams, glasses and contact lens fitting and dispensing, treatment of ocular disease, vision rehabilitation, low vision services and more. Clinics are located on the Waterloo and Health Sciences (Kitchener) campuses
