English Speaking and Writing Practice

The Writing and Communication Centre organizes the English conversation circles, an interactive program for undergraduate and graduate students who are looking to talk with other students and build confidence in their English conversation skills. 

English for Multilingual Speakers (EMLS) credit courses for graduate students

English Language Studies at Renison University College offers EMLS credit courses for University of Waterloo graduate students whose dominant language is not English and who want to improve their English language skills. No additional tuition fees are required.

Foundational Training Program for Peer Leaders

The Foundational Training Program (FTP) for Peer Leaders provides an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to develop core skills for working in a peer-to-peer program at the University of Waterloo. The FTP supports the quality and efficacy of peer-to-peer programs across campus by providing centralized training for students to enhance skills that are critical to mentorship success, as well as workplace preparedness.

Student Leadership Program

Offered by the Student Success Office, the Student Leadership Program is a broad-based, experiential series of workshops available to current University of Waterloo students (undergraduate and graduate).

Through the EDGE platform, Mitacs Training provides professional skills development courses for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Workshops are available throughout the year and are designed to complement hands-on research skills and experience.
