There are many resources on campus to support your development as a researcher, member of the workforce, and person in general.

GRADventure

GRADventure is a central hub of professional development resources designed specifically for graduate students at the University of Waterloo. It is offered by Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, in collaboration with campus partners. It provides programming and resources, including:

Centre for Teaching Excellence

CTE supports graduate students at Waterloo through certificate programs, workshops, one-on-one consultations about teaching and teaching dossiers, and classroom observations.

Centre for Career Action (CCA)

CCA Career Advisors support all students learn about career management techniques, graduate/professional school preparation, work search methods and how to set meaningful and achievable goals.

Waterloo Commercialization Office (WatCo)

WatCo offers commercialization services and expertise to package and convert research innovations into commercially viable products and services.

Velocity

Velocity is an incubator for early-stage, pre-seed tech startups. Velocity has combined startup expertise, tools, business advisory, and product development services in one program to create a suite of extraordinary resources for exceptional founders.

GreenHouse

GreenHouse is a social impact incubator that offers programs and opportunities for students to develop problem solving skills, form innovative ideas, and make new forms of sustainable impact around social or environmental change. It serves as a community for students and community members who want to create ideas and ventures that generate social or environmental change. 

Problem Lab

The first of its kind in Canada, the University of Waterloo's Problem Lab is designed to help innovators create ventures of significant economic and social consequence. The more important the problem, the more challenging it will be to understand. Problem Lab specializes in understanding important problems, the first essential step of disruptive innovation.

University of Waterloo Policy 73

University of Waterloo has long been known for researchers who are entrepreneurial thinkers and industry partners. At the core of entrepreneurship is Intellectual Property (IP) Rights Policy #73, also called "creator-owned," which grants ownership to the inventor. There are many services on campus that further support. 

Accelerator Centre

The Accelerator Centre is one of several startup incubators in the Waterloo region that can support graduate student entrepreneurs to turn their research into a startup. It provides entrepreneurs and new companies with access to coaching, mentoring, professional management advice, and even services, such as accounting, IP management, high-speed internet access and vital business networks.
